Mission Statement
Mitten Misfits Farm Sanctuary’s mission is to enrich the lives of animals while educating the public on proper care to improve animal welfare.
Description
Mitten Misfits Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501(c)3 animal sanctuary that provides a caring, permanent home for over 70 animals (and counting) who reside on 28 beautiful acres in mid-Michigan. Most of the animals are seniors while some are rescued from situations of neglect and others come from owners who are no longer able to care for them. Full size and miniature horses, donkeys, full sized and potbelly pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, peafowl, and turkeys all call Mitten Misfits home. Owners and founders Vick and Bob Worthy have committed their lives to caring for the residents of the sanctuary which has continued to grow quickly since 2019.
In addition to providing a home for these treasured residents to live out their days in comfort and with extraordinary care, the sanctuary serves the surrounding community. Mitten Misfits regularly hosts events which bring guests from the greater Lansing area and beyond to meet the residents, learn about animal welfare and plant-based alternative diets, and meet others in their community. Mitten Misfits works with animal control agencies, humane societies, and the general public.
