Mission Statement

Our mission is: - To empower women particularly in male dominated industries through a network of like-minded and equally ambitious women that support each other by sharing relatable and encouraging stories. - To encourage the financial independence of women and wealth generation. - To give young women access to mentors to assist them in their career development. Our vision is to be the number on African mobile application network geared towards women empowerment.

Description

Bellona Women's Network was established to change the stigma around feminism and to empower women, particularly in male dominated industries, to advance their careers to become decision-makers. We believe that the gender equality conversation will not change until more women become key decision makers to influence policy direction.

We developed a mobile application (which is available on both iOS and Android) that seeks to create a learning environment for all women across the African continent, promoting a rhetoric of equal opportunity for all women. Different women across a plethora of disciplines will share experiences, insights and advice on having goals, progressing and achieving in environments that remain heavily male dominated. The application aim to create this space through:

  • 20-minute podcasts,
  • Thought leadership articles,
  • A blog platform for users to engage in discussion,
  • A mentorship programme where women will be matched with other women through the App, and
  • Interaction with various networks for women empowerment across the continent.

The Bellona Network App will be a gateway for our members to access various networks and will be positioned as a 'one stop shop' for anything and everything related to female empowerment.

Our goal is to create an African Sorority of Women who Lift as They Rise.
