Life is full of blessings. As people of faith, we are called to help those in various areas where there is need, to be God's hands, feet, and heart to those in our community that need an additional bit of compassion, especially those at end of life - and the family members of those in the dying process. Hospice Promise is currently looking for friendly volunteers to minister to our hospice families. If you have a caring heart, are a good listener, have compassion for others, and a small amount of time on your hands, we can use you! We are asking for people with musical talents, military (both active duty and veterans), good listeners, and with warm hearts to volunteer with us. Please prayerfully consider this rewarding opportunity to make a difference in someone's life! Contact Avivah, Volunteer Coordinator Avivah.Fluhr@hospicepromise.com 623.330.4951

Hospice volunteers are the one person on the hospice team that comes to the patient without an agenda, being there only do what the patient and/or family want. Typically, volunteers can read to, watch movies with, write letters for, or help with light housekeeping. But the major, most critical task is in life review and reminiscing. In all our lives, our purpose is defined by the things we're doing and with whom. At end of life, the majority of purpose is found in the patient's memories. Volunteers provide the avenue to help the patients regain their purpose by listening to the stories and bearing witness to the lives well-lived. Volunteers typically see their people two to four times each month for two to four hours per visit. We will guide you through training and supervision to best support the work you will be doing. We serve in all areas of Maricopa County, we are a valley-wide hospice. Interested? Please call Avivah at 623.330.4951 or email avivah.fluhr@hospicepromise.com

There are veterans who are at end of life that need the comradeship of a fellow military veteran. In many instances, our country's heroes have never fully talked about their experience in serving our country. Yet, at end of life, the memories come flooding back, memories that can be both positive and negative. Speaking to a civilian about their experiences is good but not as healing as talking to a fellow veteran. You can be that person. We provide training, supervision, and lots of support when you take on this mission. Typically, volunteers meet with their person 2 - 4 times per month, 1 - 3 hours per visit. Vets being with other vets is invaluable and you will be that connection that is so sorely needed. Hospice Promise serves all of Maricopa County. If you are interested in this worthy way of being of service, please contact Avivah, Volunteer Coordinator at 623.330,4951, or Avivah.fluhr@hospicepromise.com

We live in a melting pot country that embraces people from several different cultures. Understanding culture and being responsive to it often is overlooked at end of life. Language is an important part of a person's life and identity. Being able to communicate in the language you grew up speaking is critically true for those at end of life and in hospice. Hospice Promise celebrates diversity. Hospice Promise is looking for volunteers who fluently speak languages other than English. We will guide you through training, supervision, and lots of support as volunteers navigate the important work of being a hospice volunteer. We serve all of Maricopa County. Are you interested?
