Mission Statement
The Education For Afrika nonprofit is a 501c3 organization that works to improve equity in education for underserved, low-income, and African youth in the US and in Congo DRC. We work to promote quality education, mentorship, after school program and workshops to reduce youth violence and promote academic and career excellence.
Description
EFA started out as a school project at the University of Denver to help immigrants and refugee students with college access. We expanded our work to low-income, underserved, at-risk and African youth to promote academic and career excellence, while addressing youth violence in the US and in Congo DRC. We work to promote academic and career excellence through arts, a mentorship program and a workshop project. We run 3 projects, that work to prevent youth violence through art, mentorship and tutoring and career and academic excellence.Young people and community members will engage in African dance, storytelling, rap, poetry, painting and many others.
Over the years, we've worked with over 400 students in the far Northeast Denver, 350+ young people in DRC to provide mentorships, and artistic outlets as a women to heal from trauma, bond with each other and become critical thinkers. We are growing and continue to do work in the US and Congo to help underserved communities.
