Mission Statement
As a channel for young ladies, ages 11 to 24, Girl Speak promotes self-enrichment while facilitating life lessons that will enable them to discover and appreciate themselves, permitting them to build with other young ladies as they strive to live "out loud". Our mission is to: • unite, educate, empower, and celebrate young ladies with and without disabilities • develop girls and young women through uniquely cultivated training • promote dialogue and learning in a fun and safe environment utilizing traditional and non-traditional activities
Description
We are an all-volunteer managed 501 c3 organization founded by a once 16-year-old teen mom who was determined to overcome the social stigma associated with teenage pregnancy. Now, as a college educated professional, the founder and team serve the local and surrounding communities in the Washington DC metro area to ensure that our young women have every academic, social skill, entrepreneurship, and athletic advantage necessary to excel as productive members of their communities. Our "why" is simple. Confident girls make confident decisions.
