Mission Statement
The Highlanders Youth Football and Cheer Organization has been in existence for upwards of 20 years. Our organization’s goal is to provide a quality sports program for our elementary school kids in the McLane high school area. The community within this school district is considered a Low to Moderate Income Area with the many of our families also enrolled in support programs. Sports programs such as the Highlanders, are proven to have positive influences on children in the community, allowing them to experience and learn fundamentals values of strong work ethic, good sportsmanship, and team work.
Description
Unfortunately, it is very expensive to run a quality program sports program, the annual expense is approx 35k. The average registration cost per kid to partially cover these expenses is $300 for football and $350 for cheer with the rest . For the last few years the program has run at a deficit in order to meet the goal of letting every kid participate.
The funds we raise through fundraising events throughout the season are used to help pay for equipment and uniforms, towards enrichment activities focused on team and community building, and most importantly and to provide scholarships to pay registration and insurance fees for any players who have a financial need.
In 2022, the Highlanders program provided direct scholarships totaling over $5k dollars for 15 players, who without this help could not afford to play.
Volunteers are needed to help us during home games with the snack bar, filming the game, and helping at entrance gates. This is a great opportunity for students who need volunteer hours for scholarship or graduation requirements
