The Connectedness Program supports those experiencing isolation and loneliness. The Connectedness Caller position offers volunteers the opportunity to reach out to home-bound individuals, reducing isolation and improving their mental wellness. We provide training, a script, and ongoing support and education. These calls serve as a check-in and a friendly hello to those who can't get out and about. We are seeking individuals who are Interested in people and the ability to converse with all kinds of people. Have good listening skills. Are detailed oriented - documentation of all calls and topics covered is required. Have the ability to keep a conversation going, if needed Interested in people and the ability to converse with all kinds of people. A minimum three - four hours per week commitment is desired for this opportunity.

Coloradoans are struggling more than ever to afford food as living costs continue to rise. Volunteers are needed to help families apply for SNAP, Supplemental Nutritional Support Assistance, our government food stamp program. Applications are easy to complete and it's rewarding to know you have helped a family add additional groceries to their pantry! Volunteers may assist with SNAP applications onsite at a variety of locations, at our offices in Lakewood or from home remotely. Training for the SNAP Navigator assignment is conducted at our office in Lakewood (about 3 hours) and included 2 online modules (1 hour each). Spanish-speaking volunteers are needed!

The Front Desk/Admin position is the first contact community members have with Benefits in Action. Attention to detail and a welcoming personality is beneficial. If you love to work with people, have experience with Microsoft Office products, can multi-task, and enjoy problem solving, this is the opportunity for you. This is an in-person opportunity and a minimum of a least one, 4-hour shift per week is required. The volunteer supports our intake staff by returning phone calls and email, receptionist duties and providing callers with information or follow up.

Volunteers are needed to call home-bound clients to see if they are in need of additional food support. Benefits in Action delivers, free of charge, fresh and non-perishable food to needy seniors and families who are unable to easily get to stores or food pantries. Food Support volunteers make brief phone calls to clients to confirm deliveries for the following week. This assignment can be done in our Lakewood office or virtually, once trained. Volunteers are required to attend Volunteer Orientation, undergo and pass a background check, and complete online HIPAA and Internet Security Training, all provided by Benefits in Action or our affiliates.
