Mission Statement

The New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts was established in 1997 to support the mission of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and to bring recognition to the achievements of New Mexico women artists in the visual, digital, performance, and literary arts. We are committed to advancing the voices, perspectives, and stories about culture and life that New Mexico women artists contribute to our society and to the world.

Description

We are an all-volunteer organization. Our members include artists and art-lovers across the State of New Mexico.

Our mission is to support and promote women artists from all over our state. Our Women to Watch artists are from diverse locations such as Cordova, Galisteo, Nambé, and Cerrillos. Our programs have featured women artists from Albuquerque and La Puebla, Taos, Peñasco, and Santa Fe.

Our vision is that every New Mexico woman in the arts reaches her potential and achieves recognition. Regardless of where you are in New Mexico or where you are in your career, we believe that by amplifying the voices of New Mexico women artists, we help others see the world with deeper understanding of and appreciation for our common experiences and our unique perspectives.
