Mission Statement

The mission of the Warbirds of Glory Museum is to restore and fly period aircraft to present a unique educational opportunity to understand the Second World War experience and to mentor students in mechanical skills, aircraft restoration and American values.

Description

The Warbirds of Glory Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The museum and apprenticeship program was established in 2013 and received its IRS nonprofit designation in 2014. It is governed by a board of nine trustees and is organized in Michigan as a non-voting membership organization with 115 current members including 35 lifetime members. All youth programs are offered at no cost to the students. Our programs are funded by foundation grants, private donations, corporate sponsorships, membership dues and merchandise sales. Our apprenticeship program is designed to be scalable, measurable and to achieve predictable results. Gratifyingly, the apprenticeship program is reaching the limits of its existing capacity to accommodate additional students. Since 2013, forty-five youth have participated in our mentorship programs. Many participants have leveraged the experience they gained at the Academy to attend vocation schools or obtain trades positions in industry or the armed forces. We are proud of the results we have achieved during the past nine years and confident that the Academy will continue to encourage youth to pursue a rewarding career in the trades while helping to reduce the growing talent gap in Michigan’s manufacturing and industrial trades.
