Mission Statement
The mission of the Pasadena for Rent Control and Just Cause Evictions campaign is to safeguard our diverse community from exploitation and displacement by creating robust tenant protections for the over 60% of the households in our city who rent.
Description
Families, children and seniors renting in Pasadena make up the majority of the population and, with the national housing crisis and surging inflation, greater tenant protections are needed more than ever to protect these families by ensuring a stable and affordable rent. The Pasadena Fair and Equitable Charter amendment was written by members of the Pasadena Tenants Union based on their first hand experiences with Pasadena’s current lack of tenant protections. This comprehensive measure known as Pasadena for Rent Control and Just Cause Evictions embodies a compassionate community of neighbors, volunteers, renters, landlords, community partners that believe Pasadena should be a fair and equitable community for all who reside in the city.
