Mission Statement

Gracie’s Giving Hands was birthed out of a place of empathy. We knew the first hand stories of homelessness, hunger and hopelessness. It is our mission to show this same community in need the love, hope, support and encouragement we have found. We hope to restore life, and want unhoused people to know that they are not forgotten, that they matter and that they are loved. Our overarching vision is to provide housing and support programs to restore self-esteem, value and dignity to people presently living on the streets. We ultimately hope to transform lives to be free of trauma, addiction, and pain.

Description

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the unhoused people of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles. Our work primarily consists of serving healthy food, and distributing water, canned goods, clothing, and toiletries to the individuals living on the street, of course at no charge to the recipients. We are an all-volunteer organization, with unpaid roles ranging from our Board of Directors to the drivers who deliver our precious cargo--HOPE! -- to children, young girls and boys, women, families, elders, and men from every conceivable background who find themselves on the pavement with nowhere left to turn. Primarily serving a public purpose and significantly benefit the public at-large, homelessness is not just a person crisis; it is a societal issue with broad ramifications. By assisting individuals in their transition from the streets to a safe, supportive environment, we are actively contributing to the well-being of our community as a whole. By investing in the people we serve, we're promoting healthier communities, reducing strain on public resources, and fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society.
