Mission Statement

VISIONS' mission is to empower the creation of environments where differences are recognized, understood, appreciated, and utilized for the benefit of all through both time-tested and innovative training and tools, public advocacy, and consulting models addressing the personal, interpersonal, cultural, and institutional levels.

Description

The VISIONS’ mission and model is built on the understanding that change to any system must occur at multiple levels and address multiple variables of difference, including race and ethnicity, gender, class, sexual preference, and others. VISIONS recognizes we must open doors to diversity at the institutional level and address barriers to inclusion at the personal, interpersonal, and cultural levels. This approach creates the possibility for change for everyone, individuals, and systems. We provide training and workshops for fellow nonprofit organizations, companies, government agencies, schools, faith-based organizations, and health care organizations. We engage individuals in our training and education workshops, webinars and podcasts and our Legacy Youth Project that empowers youth and teaches them leadership skills to become instruments of social change.

VISIONS offers the tools and skills to communicate more effectively across differences; create a non-judgmental atmosphere; analyze complex issues regarding race, class, gender and other differences at the personal, interpersonal, institutional and cultural levels; and create strategies for inclusion. The skills and tools gained via our workshops and trainings address barriers to inclusion at the personal, interpersonal, and cultural levels as well. This approach reveals attitudes, unconscious biases, and behaviors that prevent people from being inclusive.
