The Connection Outreach Service (COS) aims to support rough sleepers into stable, safe and sustainable accommodation, empowering the client to achieve and maintain independent living. We are looking for volunteers to work alongside our Outreach Support workers, to undertake early morning wake up calls on rough sleepers who have been identified or referred to the service. How you’ll help: * Support the Outreach Worker in locating rough sleepers referred to the service. * Work alongside the Outreach Worker in assessing the needs of rough sleepers. This is with the aim of helping and supporting them to access and maintain secure and suitable accommodation. * Volunteers can also assist the Outreach worker with the tasks that take place after the street-based work, if they wish. This may involve making referrals to accommodation or other services, accompanying clients to appointments or meeting with partner agencies. We ask that you demonstrate: * A non-judgemental attitude, as you will be working with a wide variety of people. Many of those we work with have only very recently found themselves to be homeless, which can be for a variety of reasons. * Compassion and understanding, as those you will be working with are in difficult circumstance and will likely be vulnerable. * Ability to respect confidentiality * Access to own transport helpful but not essential. The Outreach work covers a large geographical, often rural, area. Alternative transport can be arrange, and travel expenses are covered. * Ability to commit to a few hours volunteering on a weekly basis Hours are from 5:30am for 2½- 3½ hours, Mon-Fri (depending on your availability).

Connection Support provides a range of emotional and practical support to help people with complex needs and those who are in vulnerable accommodation or are at risk of eviction. We are looking for volunteers who speak English and Polish to support with the interpretation and translation of verbal and written information. This may include translating written information and specific text from Connection’s publicity leaflets and materials, as well as working with clients who cannot communicate in English. The role may include: - Interpreting and translating for clients and their allocated support workers during client visits, assessments, and appointments. - Translating written information and publicity materials into community languages. - Interpreting at Connection Support and similar events. Do you have: - Good cultural awareness? - The ability to respect confidentiality? - Good communication skills? If you answer yes to these questions, we would love to hear from you! The role may be done remotely in some cases, and so you do not have to be based in Oxfordshire.

Connection Support's Outreach team attend drop in sessions for people facing homelessness weekly in Bicester and Banbury, Oxfordshire. We are looking for volunteers to provide support at these drop-in sessions and speak to clients to understand their needs and identify the help they may need. The role includes: - Accompanying Connection Support staff at weekly drop-in sessions - Speaking to people who attend the drop in session to understand their needs and identify the support they need, with assistance from Connection Support staff - Provide a listening ear, and non-judgemental support to those in need. Can you: - Give 2-3 hours a week to attend a drop in session to provide a listening ear and information about signposting to relevant services? - Offer practical help, such as form filling, looking at letters, with training and support from our staff? - Commit to one or two sessions per week at specified times? If you answer yes to these questions, we would love to hear from you!

A Peer Mentor is a volunteer who has experienced similar challenges and experiences as the person they are supporting. Being a peer mentor is seen as a positive and secure way to progress towards education, work, or employment. Volunteers who take on peer support roles can feel empowered, have a greater confidence and a more positive sense of identity. Could you provide an authentic voice that our clients can relate to? · Do you have 1-2 hours a week to support a client · Can you inspire others, give them hope through self-disclosure and by being an example of recovery? · Build relationships based on trust, acceptance, understanding and an empathy from a shared lived experience? · Can we rely on you to tap into your own experiences to help us identify barriers and gaps in our services and how we can be improving and identify good practice? This role involves undertaking, upkeeping, and repairing a range of tasks for our housing support clients.
