Sanford Hospice considers volunteers to be essential members of our team. We are seeking compassionate, respectful and reliable people who want to make an impact on the lives of those who need it most. As a hospice volunteer, you can provide companionship, comfort and practical help to our patients and their loved ones. Friendly visits, simple errands, providing a listening ear, and the gift of friendship at a crucial time can make a real difference in a patient’s life. ( And yours, too !) Our volunteers visit patients in their homes, nursing homes, and assisted living residences. Needs may vary from patient to patient, but some volunteer activities include: Talking to patients and their loved ones Sharing photos and stories Reading books, scripture, or newspapers Offering the comfort of your presence Light housekeeping or running errands We encourage you to use your unique skills and abilities to brighten your patient’s day, for example: Playing music for them Painting their nails Massage therapy Reiki Arts & crafts Come support patients during their end-of-life journey as a valuable member of the Sanford Hospice team. It is an incredibly rewarding experience! Qualifications: A genuine desire to make a positive impact on individuals facing end-of-life journeys. Excellent listening and communication skills. Empathetic and compassionate nature. Reliability and commitment to scheduled volunteer hours. Respect for patient confidentiality and boundaries. Training and support is provided throughout your volunteer experience. You can set your own visit schedule, as long as it works for the patient and family.
