In this role, you will be providing a puppy with a vital foundation for its future role as a guide dog. This is a full-time volunteering opportunity as a puppy will live with you in your home for around 12-16 months. You will be supporting one of our Guide Dog puppies life by: Helping guide them through new experiences, socialisation, and basic training Providing a loving temporary home The cost of all the food, veterinary care and equipment required for each puppy is covered. You will need to: Have the time to invest in raising a puppy Be a minimum age of 18 Live in Gloucester or Cheltenham. To own or have access to a car Have access to a secure area where the puppy could go to the toilet during the day Have your own home or have written permission to have a dog in the home Please note this is a UK based role only. Attending some events as required. Encourage volunteers from the fundraising group to work together to share the tasks and responsibilities. Be the key point of contact for your local fundraising group. Encourage others to arrange fundraising activities, by building relationships with local organisations, schools and social groups. Informing them about how they can get involved, such as naming a puppy. With our guidance, you will help to ensure fundraising policies and procedures are followed. Including sharing updates and requirements to others in the group.

In this role you will provide a temporary home for a dog in training, using support and guidance for Guide Dogs for the welfare and handling of the dogs. When you become a Fosterer you will provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for a dog. Ensuring the dog is fed, exercised and cared for to maintain excellent health. it is required to drop off and collect your foster dog from our Guides Site in Shrewsbury Monday-Friday between 8.15-9.15am and collection between 5-6pm. using positive reinforcement training techniques to teach, maintain behaviours. The dog is to not be left more than 4 hours in a 24 hour period.
