Mission Statement

Shiloh House utilizes volunteers in a variety of ways to create meaningful connections and opportunities for those involved with our services to grow and thrive. Volunteers are needed for one-time projects or recurring volunteer roles on a weekly, monthly or quarterly schedule. To ensure a positive experience for all involved, volunteers complete an application and are provided with an initial orientation and ongoing training depending on the level of volunteer involvement.

Our Community Resource Network (Mentoring) is made up of partners who are willing to make a commitment to developing a healthy relationship that will support youth in and out of home care to begin their journey with confidence. Beyond the Walls partners with young people as they move from case management, toward being community connected and begin building a foundation of connections and social capital to help each young person thrive. The volunteers in our Community Resource Network link young people to opportunities and experiences to help them reach their goals. This integrated system of resources and connections amplifies the ability for each youth to have caring adults working with them as they journey toward the future.

Description

Develop a supportive relationship with young people in care and young adults who have emancipated out of foster care (Beyond the Walls). For youth in our residential program we hope to connect youth with adults who will support, listen and spend time with the youth we serve. This can be done at our facility and at times out in the community. For our Beyond the Wall's program we focus on long-term goals relating to the youth's personal path to adulthood, with an emphasis on educational success, career exploration, building connections and making healthy choices. These interactions happen in group settings and one on one interactions.
