Mission Statement

The Corporation for National and Community Service and the Michigan Aging and Adult Service Agency provided grants to qualified agencies and organizations for the dual purpose of engaging persons 55 years of age and older, particularly those with limited incomes, in volunteer service to meet critical community needs; and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of the Foster Grandparents. Program funds are used to support Foster Grandparents in providing individualized services to have a positive impact on the lives of children in need.
Foster Grandparent are assigned to a teacher in classroom. Assignments and activities must involve person-to-person supportive relationships with the child (ren) served. Each Foster Grandparent must be assigned to individual children in order to develop a personal relationship with each child.
Individuals served by Foster Grandparents must be children under the age of 21. Children "having special or exceptional needs or with conditions or circumstances identified as limiting their academic, social, or economic development".

Description

Applicants must meet age; income and time commitment to be considered a Foster Grandparent eligible .
