Mission Statement
Scholar Career Coaching (ScholarCC) is a nonprofit organization that assists high school students, with a focus on ESL (English as Second Language) in Title I schools that offers complimentary mentoring services to prepare college-bound students struggling to find their career and college paths. Our curriculum emphasis on career planning, college readiness, financial literacy and life skills.
Our mission is to coach, motivate, and support South Florida high school students, with a focus on ESL (English as Second Language) in Title I schools through mentoring and scholarships. This mission is strengthened by ScholarCC's vision of addressing the needs of high potential and high need students.
Description
How it Works:
We are recruiting for volunteer mentors to serve our after-school mentoring program at either Atlantic Community High School or Boynton Beach High from September 2017- May 2018. If you are a college student, graduate student, working professional or retiree, we believe you have some tips and insights to share with our students.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Assist with homework, resume building, cover letter, SAT, ACT, job application, college application, selecting college/university to attend, finding scholarships, and other academic needs.
Aide students in developing study skills and test taking strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must serve as a consistent mentor for an assigned student throughout the semester.
Must be able to volunteer every other Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm.
Must be able to mentor from September 2017 - May 2018.
Must be over age 21.
Must live in South Florida.
Must pass criminal background check.
Must be a working professional, graduate, college student or retiree.
Must have the ability to communicate with students openly and without judgment.
Must be sensitive to people of different educational, economic, cultural backgrounds.
