Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are trained citizens from all walks of life who are assigned by the juvenile court to advocate for the best interests of an abused or neglected child in court. Children helped by CASA volunteers include those who are in the legal custody of the state (foster care).
A CASA volunteer provides a judge with carefully researched background details about the child to help the court make a sound decision about that child's future. The CASA Volunteer visits the child at least once per month in the foster home or the home of relatives.
Description
CASA Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and a high school graduate. No particular professional experience is required. CASA Volunteers must be culturally competent, patient, objective, and accepting of others.
