Help older adults navigate the digital world so they can make meaningful connections with their friends and families, especially now with their limited ability to meet in person. Create short, simple videos that can be broadcasted on a retirement home television channel or watched in a video bank by seniors. This opportunity has flexible timings. Create the videos at your convenience. Requirements for videos: - Use a screen recording tool (example: Screen-Cast-O-Matic) to show step by step instructions on how to complete the task. - Save the file as an Mp4 file. Or upload to and send google drive if the file is too large. Mp4 is preferred. - Speak clearly, explain each step in detail, and add a few jokes - The length of your video should be between 2-10 minutes - You will receive 30 minutes of service for each video - Be sure to talk about the uses of the tool - Be polite and use appropriate language. Polish your gardening skills as you help grow and harvest crops in a sustainable fashion for food banks. Create and deliver food baskets to grateful, underprivileged families. Help build and create practical artwork that helps scare away bears or provides structural support for farm projects. Help an organization that is currently feeding over 500,000 families! Some opportunities are remote and others are in person. This program is in partnership with Farmer Frog. No application is required for this opportunity. Here are some basic descriptions of each type of activity: Farm Tasks: Harvesting, Mulching, Watering, Weeding, Planting, Creating + Hanging outdoor art to scare away bears Loading: Lifting 50 lbs crates repeatedly to load on trucks, cars, and trailers. Intense work. Bagging: Packaging loose product for families in need. Check-out at Gate: Checks for the outgoing load, makes sure everything is counted, takes a second look at the load before it leaves Farmer Frog. Data Entry Coordinator: Works from home. Contact person. Slips containing information about what food items are loaded out are messaged via text. Data Entry Coordinator will enter the data into the shared Google Docs. Delivery Driver: If interested, send an email to info@teenswhocare.us containing your name, phone #, email, vehicle make and model, weight capacity, delivery area, proof of insurance and picture of driver license. Distribute food to people in need at food banks! Package healthy food packets to be handed out! This opportunity is in partnership with Hopelink. VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER. Upon signing up, you will be provided with instructions via email to choose the slot on the Hopelink volunteer hub and fill out a short application that should take about 5 minutes. Armed with a ready-made curriculum, you, along with other talented volunteers, will teach elderly citizens basic smartphone and computer features so they can better connect with friends and family. What this entails: Students who are tech class leaders will provide an introduction of the class to the volunteers, greet the seniors, kick off the meeting, assign breakout rooms, interview new volunteers during orientation sessions, increase outreach, and manage breakout rooms.
