The Reiki Volunteer serves as an additional support to patients, families and caregivers by performing Reiki to facilitate the body’s "relaxation response". Provision of Reiki may promote a reduction in anxiety, muscle tension, or pain, and can promote wellness and a greater sense of well-being. The Reiki volunteer may only perform Reiki to the head, neck, shoulders, arms and below the groin. Visits may occur in the patient’s home or in a professional care setting.

Hospice Holiday Angel

Spread some Holiday Cheer this year by giving someone the best holiday season EVER! Help a hospice patient, write holiday cards to loved ones, decorate their space, do holiday crafts, relax with them over a good book and a cup of cocoa, sing a carol or two, and just have a holly jollly time! This would be considered a direct patient care volunteer: Direct care volunteers provide emotional support and practical assistance, which enhance the comfort and quality of life for patients and families/caregivers. These services include conducting tuck-in calls, being available for companionship, listening, simply "being there," and preparing meals.
