Facility Housekeeping

The Comfort House of Augusta is a 501c(3) non-profit that provides low-cost lodging to out-of-town patients and their caregivers being seen in the Augusta area. While our guests are expected to clean-up after themselves, the facility relies on volunteers to help reset the rooms after check-out, touch-up common areas and keep spaces organized. In order to continue the Comfort Houses mission we need dedicated volunteers who are willing to donate a few hours of their time each week to help ensure that guests arrive to a clean and welcoming facility. If this sounds like you please join us. There is no requirement to interact with guests unless the volunteer desires. Volunteers can set their own schedule, and can work independently or as a team.

Yard and Landscape Maintenance

We need volunteers to assist with lawn and landscaping maintenance for our 1/4 acre facility that provides low-cost lodging to out-of-town patients and guests receiving care in Augusta Hospitals. Families have much to worry about when their loved ones are being treated for life threatening illnesses, but finding a place to stay shouldn't be one of them. For over 30 years the Comfort House has provided caregivers with a low-cost and safe lodging to stay while they take care of their family. Volunteers must have their own lawn equipment and transportation. The entire yard is accessible enough for a riding lawnmower and is small enough for a push mower. Frequency: Weekly, however volunteers can choose when and how often they help out.

Guest Check-in

Volunteers will greet guests at the Comfort House and ensure that guests have access to their rooms, and understand the policies for staying at the house. All guests are out-of-town patients receiving outpatient care in the Augusta area, or are a caregiver of a qualified patient at a local hospital. No physical contact with guests is required and social distancing is expected at all times, however the volunteer will need to provide the guest with keys to their room and a short tour of the facility. Check-ins are by appointment only from 1pm-8pm, so volunteers would only need to support an agreed upon appointment time.

Located in Augusta, Georgia, Comfort House provides low cost short term lodging and supportive companionship in a home-like environment for families and caregivers of out-of-town patients receiving care at Augusta area hospitals. Guests may stay at Comfort House upon receipt of a referral from an area hospital. There are no restrictions on the basis of race, sex, religion or national origin.

The Comfort House is comprised of volunteers and is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt not-for-profit charitable corporation. It is supported solely by donations from churches, foundations, civic groups, businessess and individiduals, including former guests.
