Mission Statement

Over 2 million Illinois adults have low reading, writing, math skills or low English proficiency. Joliet Junior College Adult Volunteer Literacy strives to provide basic adult literacy instruction to individual members and the families of the community.

Description

We need tutors who are willing to help adult learners to improve their reading, writing, math skills, as well as English language. If you are at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or GED, you can become an Adult Literacy tutor with us.
We provide 15-hour free tutor training and issue Certificate of participation after the training is complete.
Being a tutor not only assists people who are trying to improve their literacy skills, but also adds to your own skills with a valuable experience for your resume.
