Each kit should provide all the necessary ingredients and instructions to prepare a meal that feeds at least a family of four, including a side and an easily-prepared dessert. Please make sure each meal kit fits into one bag and that cooking instructions are provided. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about helping to feed our community! Our food pantry currently serves around 600 community members in the metro Richmond and surrounding areas each week. Food pantry assistants support our efforts in a variety of ways, from packing pantry bags for clients' appointments, organizing and stocking the pantry shelves, to greeting clients for their scheduled appointments; volunteers are directly involved in the distribution of food to our clients! Atlantic Outreach Group strives to empower vulnerable communities by connecting them to resources necessary for their success. Volunteer Delivery Drivers deliver prepacked food pantry bags directly to our clients using their own vehicle. Volunteers in this opportunity should be comfortable with calling clients to inform them of their ETA. This is a great opportunity to complete with a friend or family while supporting those impacted by food insecurity! Deliveries take place every Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We ask drivers to arrive at the food pantry between 9:30 am and 10:00 am. Deliveries are typically completed within 1-2 hours. Volunteers can commit to just one or all three shifts, depending on their availability, but we do prefer a weekly commitment for a duration of at least 3 months.
