The Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter works with volunteer advocates across the state of Indiana to advance public policy supporting those impacted by Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Advocates engage year-round with their federal elected officials in the Ambassador Program and their state elected officials during our legislative session each spring. Our non-partisan efforts engage elected officials on both sides of the aisle to advance our mission of a World Without Alzheimer's and All Other Dementia. Through various advocacy activities - like phone calls, meetings, letters to the editor, emails and social media posts - advocates encourage their elected officials to prioritize this disease on the federal and state level. We're looking for volunteer advocates in the area where YOU live! You can help us achieve policy victories and make a real difference for the millions of families affected by Alzheimer's or another dementia in less than 1 hour per month . To be an Alzheimer’s advocate, all you need is: A passion to make a difference for people impacted by Alzheimer’s or another dementia Your personal story of how dementia has touched you or why you support the cause Willingness to dedicate just 1 hour per month. Our volunteer program is designed for busy people, and we’re willing to work with your schedule! An interest in participating in a number of simple advocacy activities, like attending district meetings, submitting letters to the editor and/or posting on social media Comfortable speaking with elected officials to help them understand the personal toll of this disease (you do not have to be an expert in politics, just your own story!) Excitement to work with other dedicated and passionate volunteers across the state - our advocates are one big family, and the program is incredibly rewarding!
