Provide the people power needed to make special events a success at our Museum. Event volunteers serve as museum ambassadors to special event guests and participants, making sure that event details are handled with precision and attention to detail. Under the direction of the Museum Director and/or Town of Perryville staf or other volunteers, event volunteers assist on the event day for set-up, guest assistance and registration and/or clean up. Event volunteers have the option of assisting with pre-event planning, logistics, design, and event coordination necessary for the successful outcome of the Museum's special events and functions. Duties may include but are not limited to: - Process and/or send out invitations/mailings, book speakers or talent, help with publicity, compile guest lists, write out name-tags, record RSVPs, among other duties. - Must be available on evenings and weekend as necessary to participated in the planning, setup, execution, and takedown of special events. - Greet event attendees, hand out information. - Assist with admissions - Assist at hospitality areas serving food or beverages. - General event monitoring and crowd flow management (direct visitors) - Help guests have a safe and enjoyable visit.

The Rodgers Tavern Museum seeks outgoing and friendly volunteers to greet visitors coming into the museum and help provide a welcoming presence to visitors. The primary role as a Museum Greeter is to ensure a positive experience for our guests. MAIN FUNCTIONS: ● Enthusiastically engage with and greet visitors entering the museum ● Recording visitor numbers ● Share information about new and upcoming museum events and programs ● Maintain brochures and handouts at the front desk ● Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions for special events / gift shop purchases ● Be familiar with gift shop inventory in order to sell and answer customer questions ● Assist with restocking the gift shop, general museum cleaning, and other projects as assigned ● Answering phones ● Maintain a neat and professional appearance ● Politely but assertively remind visitors of the museum’s no food and drink policies ● Assist with crowd control when necessary ● Abide by all museum policies and procedures ● Record volunteer time after each shift

Help the Rodgers Tavern Museum uncover the past! Follow the clues in newspapers, oral histories, government records and more that lead to discovering the individual stories of the Tavern's former residents and travelers. It's these stories that help us make personal and lasting connections to our visitors through educational and event programming. This position reports directly to the Museum Director to carry out research on a variety of eras and topics in the Tavern’s history. Specific research projects can be tailored to meet your interests. Traveling to Baltimore, Annapolis, Elkton, Havre de Grace, and Bel Air may be necessary. Research subjects may include: Architectural history Local, Maryland/Delaware/Pennsylvania, and US history African American History Women's history The Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, Civil War Archaeology and Historic Preservation Volunteers may be provided with the opportunity to share their research through the Museum’s website and social media outlets.

Description
The famous and not so famous stayed at this vital link along an important roadway in American history. The museum share their unique stories. The Rodgers Tavern Museum welcomes volunteers for many different kinds of work. There are opportunities for volunteers to help with museum collections, serve as history guides to help visitors explore the past, assist with special events, contribute to social media channels and work in the gift shop. The museum needs volunteers with a variety of skills in public relations, administration, retail sales, and cataloging and documenting museum collections. Some of the benefits volunteers receive include, but are not limited to:
