Mission Statement

Path From Poverty reaches across cultures to transform lives and communities by partnering with women's groups; empowering and equipping women to break the cycle of poverty. At Path From Poverty, compassion, justice and sustainability ideals are instilled into every initiative and every program, delivering an impact powerful enough to change lives long after a program has ended. This principle-driven approach creates a culture where anyone can find a place to share and serve. We are currently contributing to the following Women’s Group projects in Kenya: - Clean, safe water, in the form of 10,000L rainwater catchment water tanks - Leadership & income-generation training - Solar power, including panels, charges and utility pack

Description

Path From Poverty has been working with impoverished Kenyan women in water equity for 25 years because their access to clean water is virtually non-existent. The water they fetch daily is up to 10 kilometers away and filled with water-borne diseases. Path From Poverty is tackling this issue head-on by working in 7 rural regions in Kenya, supporting over 2000 women, and providing 10,000-liter filtered-rainwater catchment tanks that sit right outside a women's home, bringing clean, safe water to her and her family. The women are in small groups working in collaboration with micro-business and collective savings to help each other obtain water tanks. Our group leadership model means the women lead the process based on their priorities, working in groups to support personal capacity to generate income and be accountable, all while building social cohesion. The partnership between the Kenyan women and Path From Poverty results in nearly 300 new tanks and 100 solar panels per year.
