About Us The Borland Free Clinic is the only free clinic in Washington County and the only free clinic that sees both children and adults within Clackamas County. We aim to address the primary care needs of the uninsured and underinsured members of our community, as well as those who are falling through the insurance gap. Position Description A CMA is responsible for assisting healthcare providers during clinic hours. The position offers a healthcare-directed volunteer the unique opportunity to receive mentoring from experienced providers. Schedule The CMA should be available on clinic days during clinic hours. We are open Mondays and Thursdays 3-7pm, and Wednesdays 9am-1pm. The medical CMA should also be able to arrive at the clinic early to prepare for patients and potentially stay after the clinic to finish up documentation with providers. Qualifications Needs to already be certified. Unfortunately, the clinic does not have the resources to train students pursuing a CMA. Organized, thorough, accurate and conscientious Be able to be compassionate and welcoming towards underserved community members Specific Responsibilities Accompany the provider or nurse during the office visit with the patient and be present for the duration of the visit with the exception of parts of the physical examination The volunteer will be trained on the Athena EMR

We are open Mondays & Thursdays 3-7 pm, and Wednesdays 9am-1pm. We ask for a minimum of one shift per month. Position Description The Volunteer Nurse supports the patients and providers of the clinic by escorting patients to the exam area, recording vital signs, documenting in the patient’s medical record, cleaning exam rooms after patient use, and stocking supplies in exam rooms. Schedule The volunteer nurse should be available on clinic days during clinic hours. We are open Mondays and Thursdays 3-7pm, and Wednesdays 9am-1pm. Qualifications RNs, LPNs, and MAs may be trained to perform this job. One year of direct patient care experience is required. A successful Volunteer Nurse will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational, problem solving, and decision making capabilities. The volunteer must like to work in a fast-paced team environment and be flexible with tasks. This volunteer also needs to have compassionate listening skills. Experience working with underserved populations is not required but is helpful. Specific Responsibilities Rooming patients Patient intake Complete patient assessments related to reasons for visit, recommends number of visits Complete social histories, smoking, alcohol, and recreational drug use Document allergies Record vital signs, weight, and O2 stats (if indicated) Record chief complaints and communicates them to the physician Perform the following emergency procedures if necessary (all instructions will be provided): O2 tank Nitrous Oxide AED Perform the following nursing procedures if necessary EKG Nebulizer Minor wound care Ear irrigations Assist physicians with minor procedures Administer injections (i.e., flu vaccine) Schedules outside tests, referrals, and follow up appointments as directed Returns patient phone calls as needed Cleans clinical area and patient rooms Provides discharge instructions Provides adult patient education such as diabetes, hypertension, and documents it in the chart

We are a free non-profit faith-based medical clinic open Mondays and Thursdays 3-7pm, and Wednesdays 9am-1pm. We are looking for individuals who have a desire to work with the underserved in our area. This person will greet our patients, register, check them in, and do check out after their appointment. We provide orientation and training to all of our volunteers. Come join our family!

Position Description A medical scribe is responsible for capturing, in real-time, accurate and detailed documentation of patient encounters on the EMR system (Athena) for healthcare providers during clinic hours. A scribe allows the provider to give high quality care and attention to the patient diagnosis and treatment plan as well as optimize the provider’s efficiency and productivity. The scribe position offers a healthcare-directed student the unique opportunity to receive mentorship from experienced providers, Schedule The medical scribe should be available on clinic days during clinic hours. We are open Mondays and Thursdays 3-7pm, and Wednesdays 9am-1pm. Qualifications Be at least a college undergraduate student, preferably pre-health Exceptional computer skills and the ability to learn quickly how to operate the EMR Organized, thorough, accurate and conscientious Be able to type at least 60 words per minute Be able to be compassionate and welcoming towards underserved community members Must be willing to learn: Common medical terminology Common medical abbreviations Common medications Common lab tests Basic anatomy Specific Responsibilities Accompany the provider during the office visit with the patient and be present for the duration of the visit with the exception of parts of the physical examination Record the History of Present Illness (HPI), Review of Systems (ROS), Physical Exams, and Assessment and Plan Enter/maintain the patient’s Past Medical History, Social History, Family History, Current Medications, and Problem List Enter the visit diagnoses, lab orders, and prescriptions Locate patient information such as lab tests, prior medical records, demographic information, etc. via the EMR system Ensure proper communication between nurses and providers regarding patients Assist the provider in navigating the EMR The volunteer will be trained on the Athena EMR
