Description
Assistance League Chicagoland West is part of a national organization with chapters throughout the United States. For more than 20 years, our all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit has taken responsibility for identifying community needs, structuring programs to fill those needs, raising the funds necessary, then delivering the solutions. Our current programs are:
Operation School Bell (r) - Provides new winter coats, hats & gloves to low-income eligible elementary students and school- appropriate clothing for middle school students. More than 2,000 students from 35 schools are served annually.
New Start - Provides all new, essential kitchen packages to those leaving transitional shelters for independent living. More than 150 kitchens are distributed annually.
Early Reading - Gifts new picture books and lends literacy backpacks to disadvantaged pre-school, kindergarten, and early reading students. More than 800 young children are served annually.
Scholars Support - Awards $3,500 scholarships to College of DuPage students actively seeking a degree. Up to six scholarships are awarded annually.
