Business owners frequently look for help in creating their websites and social media platforms. We are looking for a volunteer who is a subject matter expert in this area; this volunteer will work as a partner with a primary mentor who is providing general business advice to a business owner. This volunteer ideally should have experience in the basics of website design as well as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media programs. As volunteers, we provide guidance to our clients (business owners) but if they need specific work done, we refer them to our resource partners. Expectations for time commitment will be varied based on the needs of the client but schedules are flexible. Training will be provided prior to the start.

SCORE offers free and confidential mentoring for small business owners on Hilton Head, in Bluffton and in Beaufort. There are excellent volunteer opportunities to support SCORE mentoring with administrative services. One example, we need an administrator to assign new business mentoring requests to our mentors. Our administrators can work from home, using Internet-based systems to do the work. Join an organization that helps small businesses grow and create jobs. It's a terrific way to give back to your local community.

Do you love sharing your business knowledge? Do you want to help your local business community? SCORE workshop presenters share their business acumen with their local community by leading educational workshops and seminars. Our workshop team is looking for volunteers. We have three different roles. Do you love public speaking? Then our presenter role is perfect for you. Do you prefer to run the show and interact with the audience? Facilitating our workshops would be the ideal role. If you love to be behind the scenes to make sure the technology and Zoom are working correctly, then the operator role would be best. The ideal candidate should have experience in workshops, education, or presentations as well as being local to the Beaufort County, SC area. Ideally, candidates would be involved with at least one workshop a month, which usually is one hour in length. Training will be provided prior to start. Computer literacy is necessary. Business Mentor: Share your business knowledge with a small business owner! A SCORE mentor is an adviser who helps individuals and small businesses reach their goals. Mentors provide free business advice and education to aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners. As a mentor, you’ll help clients solve problems, make businesses more efficient, and assist with developing long-term business plans. Additionally, you may discover new sources of insight and knowledge to help your own business and leadership style. Teaching others how to manage people or projects, along with illustrating ways to succeed in other aspects of business, could inspire you to continue with your own professional growth-all of this while helping your local community. The ideal mentor is empathetic, flexible, and loves connecting people to the right resources. Mentors often have significant experience within their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to dedicate a few hours a week. This candidate will need their own computer and internet access. Expectations for time commitment will be varied based on the need of the clients but schedules are generally flexible. Training will be provided prior to start. Computer literacy is necessary. We need a volunteer to post content to social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google My Business. You’ll participate on the marketing committee, develop content for social media, and help us engage our social media followers.
