Today’s small business owners must master many functions to drive greater success and accelerate growth - from building world-class websites to leveraging the power of social media and implementing cloud computing. As part of SCORE’s free mentoring services, you can work directly with an experienced SCORE mentor and their entrepreneur clients to support very specialized areas of small business. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you would be called in to provide support and advice to assist a SCORE small business or entrepreneur client succeed. Areas where specialized SME services are needed include (but are not limited to): finance, accounting, human resources management, website design, development, and webmaster skills; social media and digital marketing skills; taxation and specialized finance skills; IT infrastructure and cloud computing understanding and advice. In our Northern California coastal counties minority, women, and veteran entrepreneurs face unique barriers to business success. At North Coast SCORE, we’re working to change that by removing those obstacles and providing personalized support to everyone who has an idea and a desire to succeed in business. SCORE mentoring is free and confidential. As a mentor you will use your business knowledge and experience to help local clients solve problems, increase business efficiency, and assist with developing long-term business plans. Mentors often have significant experience within their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to dedicate a few hours a week. North Coast SCORE, which operates in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, and Humboldt Counties in Northern California, has an opportunity for a group of volunteers to re-establish a robust and active business training / workshop program in our service area. We need a creative group of individuals to organize both live and video workshops aimed at small business owners and entrepreneurs. There is a large and expanding amount of material to draw from. The library is created by SCORE nationally in addition to locally created courses. The workshops ideally are presented in both English and Spanish. If you are looking for an opportunity to foster a successful small business community through financial and managerial education of entrepreneurs, this is right for you. NorthCoast SCORE provides low-cost education and mentoring services that help entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits succeed, creating jobs and opportunities throughout the Sonoma, Napa, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte counties in Northern California. We touch hundreds of people each year with our education programs. We are seeking volunteers who can give workshops and provide expert advice directly to SCORE clients on Marketing and Digital Marketing. We also need a volunteer to e-market our workshops and recruiting efforts. This service opportunity entails coordinating communication across Constant Contact, Facebook and other platforms. This position will enable the chapter to improve and measure the effectiveness of our programs. This is a job with meat - you will see the difference you make!
