SCORE needs bi-lingual mentors who can help aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners whose first language is not English by providing business expertise, support, translation, and the necessary tools to help them reach their goals. We have clients whose first language is Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin. As a mentor you will use your industry-based knowledge and expertise to help clients solve problems, increase business efficiency, and assist with developing long-term business plans. Mentors often have significant experience within their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to dedicate a few hours a week. Being a SCORE volunteer offers many benefits, such as becoming a leader in your business community, feeling empowered sharing your expertise with others, expanding your network, making new friends, and growing professionally through lifelong learning. The SCORE Event Management Team conducts free educational webinars for all small business owners. As Webinar Team (Co) Chair you'd be responsible for: Working with SCORE Chapter Leadership to develop our webinar/workshop strategic approach Finding new presenters to expand our educational offerings and client reach Collaborating with other SCORE Chapters with regard to our District agenda As a webinar presenter, you’ll share your business acumen with the local community by: Creating and delivering presentations for current/future small business owners As a webinar host, you'll be responsible for managing the event: Collaborating with the Presenter for logistical coordination prior to the webinar Collaborating with the Administrator before, during and after the webinar Facilitate the webinar (Zoom settings, record it, make introductions, monitor chat, moderate Q&A) Track and report the statistics on the webinar program As a webinar administrator, you'll be responsible for: Scheduling the webinar in our CRM system Promoting the webinar using Constant Contact Post recording of webinar to our SCORE website If you have a few hours to give per month, our SCORE clients will benefit from your expertise. Each SCORE chapter relies on the talent and time of volunteers to help entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of small business ownership. We are currently looking for help with the Chapter Administrator role. A key function within this role is matching new client requests with an appropriate mentor based on their location, workload, and skills/experience. Other responsibilities, if desired, could also include Excel spreadsheet maintenance, running reports and coordinating the onboarding of new volunteers. Currently all work is being performed remotely, so these tasks can be performed from home . You would be able to make your own schedule with a time commitment estimate of 3-4 hours a week and gain an opportunity to enhance your organizational and communication skills, while helping your local business community. Right now, minority entrepreneurs are facing unique barriers to business success. At SCORE, we’re working to change that by removing those obstacles and providing minority-owned and women-owned businesses with access to personalized support in our SCORE for All program: to meet business owners where they are and help them reach their business goals. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) is a key focus at SCORE. As a Mentor you will use your industry-based knowledge and expertise to help clients solve problems, increase business efficiency, and assist with developing long-term business plans. Mentors often have significant experience within their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to dedicate a few hours a week. As a Subject Matter Expert Mentors (SME), you would be an adjunct expert called in to provide specialized support and advice to assist a SCORE mentor when their client needs a deeper dive on a specific topic. Topics where minority-owned businesses need support include (but are not limited to): government contracting, minority business enterprise certification, finance, accounting, human resources management, website design, development, and webmaster skills; social media and digital marketing skills; taxation and specialized finance skills; IT infrastructure and cloud computing understanding and advice. If you have a few hours per month and want to share your specialized expertise with a local small business owner, become a SCORE Mentor or Subject Matter Expert.
