SCORE is the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors who are dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals. SCORE is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The New Orleans chapter of SCORE provides client services (Mentoring and Education) to small businesses and some non-profits in a specific geography in Louisiana, including New Orleans. Chapter Chairs are one of the most critical volunteer roles to SCORE as they guide our chapters in our mission to serve small business needs throughout the country. As a local SCORE Chapter Chair, you would oversee chapter operations and the annual budget, set the vision and strategic direction for your chapter and focus all the enthusiasm of your volunteers into a successful organization to make a lasting impact on your community. Training and onboarding will be provided, with guidance and support from the District Director and Regional Vice President. The Chapter Chair volunteer role should also focus on: Client engagement Volunteer engagement Community engagement Creating a diverse and inclusive culture Recruiting Our Mission: To foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. Our Vision: We aim to give every person the support they need to thrive as a small business owner. In 2021 alone, SCORE volunteers helped start 25,084 new businesses, produced 71,475 non-owner Jobs, and created a total of 96,559 new jobs. Bring your specialized, deep experience to help small business entrepreneurs achieve success. Today’s small business owners must master many functions to drive greater success and accelerate growth - from building world-class websites to leveraging the power of social media and implementing cloud computing. As part of SCORE’s free mentoring services, you can work directly with an experienced SCORE mentor and their entrepreneur clients to support very specialized areas of small business. As a Subject Matter Expert Mentors (SME), you would be an adjunct expert called in to provide specialized support and advice to assist a SCORE mentor when their client needs a deeper dive on a specific topic. Areas where specialized SME services are needed include (but are not limited to): finance, accounting, human resources management, website design, development, and webmaster skills; social media and digital marketing skills; taxation and specialized finance skills; IT infrastructure and cloud computing understanding and advice.
