Bolton Mansio n aims to maintain and restore a historic landmark and to do so we need help from like -minded volunteers who have an interest in preserving histor ic sites in Pennsylvania. We are looking for aid in the f orm of a general event helper. This would entail helping during our scheduled events which work to raise funds for the building ’ s restoration. Other respo nsibilities would vary from helping with the general planning of events and doing tasks during the event day, whether that is setting up the tables for our gift shop or selling 50/50 tickets during the event. Below I have listed the specific volunteer positions that we are typically looking for as well as a short des cription of what each position would entail. Holiday House Set up and Break down: Set up - Typical holiday house set up occurs a couple of weeks before the event - Decorate the 1st floor rooms (parlor, dining room, blue room, foyer and hallway) - Window greens placed in the sills - Garlands hung on doorways - wreaths hung in windows Break Down - Remove ornaments from all trees, remove window, doorway & mantel decorations, remove wreaths from all windows. - All Christmas trees (except 12ft Parlor tree) will need to be taken to 2nd floor in one piece. 50/50 Table: Set up and/or break down of the tables and chairs Sell 50/50 tickets at the table as well as make sales by talking the event area Coordinate with the DJ for last calls, ticket pulls, and winning names and numbers Gift Shop: Set up and/or break down of gift shop Sell select gift shop items such as mugs and tshirts Uti lize a POS system as well as cash for all sales Membership Table: Set up and/ or breakdown of tables and chairs Solicit memberships Possible tour ticket sales if we do not have the ticket booth for specific events Trash Attendant : Line and place trash boxes out in the event area Empty and change liners as needed throughout the scheduled event time, disposing of filled bags in designated area Collect trash boxes at the end of the event Fire Tender (specifically for the Holiday House event): Fire tender will start fires in the working fireplaces and will monitor the fires throughout the event. Adding fire word as needed and keeping them at a safe flame. Also, will monitor that fire screens are always in place. Exit door- The volunteer will stand at the exit to ensure all guests are directed to the entrance of the tour for ticket check. Also, will help with exiting tour guests at their end time. We are looking for individuals who are willing to help us with our waste management during our hosted events. This position responsibilities include but are not limited to: -At the start of the event, locate our trash boxes and put them throughout the event space (properly set up with trash bags, etc) -Throughout the event, maintain the trash boxes and ensure that none are overflowing. In the situation of a full trash bag, you would be responsible for removing the trash and replacing the trash bag. -Responsible for bringing the full trash bags to the designated dumpster throughout the event to keep the event field clean -At the end of the event you will be responsible for going through the event field and removing trash bags and placing them in designated dumpsters, breaking up trash boxes, and ensuring that all materials end up stored properly. This position is typically split into two shifts. The first shift would be responsible for the set up and the second shift would be responsible for the breakdown at the end of the event. Our events typically start around 10 (so the first shift would be slightly before that to prepare before the start of the event). Our events typically come to a close around 4 (the second shift would typically be over by about 4:30)

The mission of the Friends of Bolton Mansion is to engage the Lower Bucks County community through exhibits and programming that are open to the public. The continued restoration and preservation of the Mansion as a historic museum, along with the Farmers’ residence and surrounding grounds will foster interest in the interpretation of the site, the history of Bolton Mansion, and its role in the early history of the Commonwealth through the present day. Friends of Bolton Mansion is a 100% volunteer-based organization including the Board of Directors. We rely solely on volunteers to run the organization with the goal of maintaining and restoring Historic Bolton Mansion c1687 and the Farmer’s Residence. This role could potentially be the head of a volunteer recruitment committee.
