Want to help rescue animals but are not able to be a foster parent? We are looking for Reliable and Trustworthy Volunteers to help us transport our cats and kittens in the NYC and surrounding areas to and from vet visits, to foster homes, and adoption events. Occassionally we need supplies transported as well. Most of our pickups and destinations are in Queens and a small amount in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Volunteer as much or as little as you like. You are not obligated to accept an assignment, often our needs have little or short notice, so if you can help out, we are grateful but if you are not available, that's ok too. All cats and kittens will be in carriers/crates for safety and to keep your vehicle clean. This is an integral role and we really need help! Suitable for retirees or people who have flexibility in their weekdays and sometimes on weekends.

AdvoCat Rescue is looking for volunteers to foster cat(s) and/or kittens in their home and provide lots of love and TLC while we search for their furever homes. So many cats and kittens are in desperate need of temporary homes on their path to safety. You can be an integral part of rescue by opening your home and proving TLC on their journey off the streets. To get started please email us at info@advocatrescue.org and put Interested in Fostering in the subject Foster Volunteer FAQs What kind of animals need foster care? Cats and kittens Mothers with nursing litters Special needs fosters Can I become a foster volunteer if I have pets of my own? Absolutely! We welcome pet owners as foster volunteers. Plus it’s a great way to test a particular cat’s compatibility with other animals (or your own pet's compatibility!) How long do animals need to stay in foster care? The typical foster stay is two weeks to two months, depending on the needs of the individual animal(s) in your care. What expenses are involved with foster care? Foster families provide housing, food, bedding and toys for the animals in their care. They also provide exercise, socialization and lots of love! AdvoCat Rescue provides all medical care for animals in foster homes, including vaccination, medications and spay/neuter surgery and any other medical that may be needed. We also provide start-up items like litter box, scoop, playpen (for kittens), and some food to get you started. What is expected of the foster parent? We would love our foster parents to treat their foster cat(s) or kittens like resident cats, giving them the love and attention that every animal deserves Occasionally our kitties may need to go to our vet. Kittens will need routine vaccinations, and of course, if medical issues are present or arise, as their foster parent, to help out with vet visits, which AdvoCat Rescue will pay for. As a foster, am I responsible to find their furever home? Absolutely not, but if you wanted to help, we would appreciate and welcome it! We will network the cats and kittens and screen applicants prior to arranging for anyone to meet the kitty. Please note that since COVID-19 all meet and greets are done virtually for everyone's safety. We will request that you provide clear and bright photos of the cat(s) or kittens so that we can network them on Petfinder, AdoptAPet, and social media sites. AdvoCat Rescue, a NYC based Cat Rescue is looking for social media volunteers to help writing and publishing content and grow our following. Volunteers should be: Passionate about feline welfare. Experienced and fluent with Facebook and Instagram. Experienced and comfortable with Reels is an added plus. Comfortable authoring engaging posts. Someone with a great and light sense of humor would be great and be able to convey this in posts when appropriate, but also understands that some of our content is serious and should be treated as such. Have a sharp attention to detail and have excellent grammar skills. Capable of publishing content daily (much is just fluff content to keep followers engaged and interested) and at times we would like more serious updates about intakes, rescues, and status of various rescued cats and kittens under the rescue's care. Comfortable writing content for fundraising efforts periodically. Often this involves telling the story of a specific rescue cat and why the funding is needed. You are a self-motivated person who asks questions but also takes the lead to work independently to publish content. This is a volunteer position and not paid, however you will join a group of motivated rescuers and learn much about cat rescue. This is a remote position and hours are not set however we are looking for someone who is able to dedicate time each day. AdvoCat Rescue will sign/vouch if volunteer hours are needed, as well as author a recommendation letter if desired.
