Your commitment can make a world of difference to someone who lacks the support they deserve! Legal Guardians are appointed by the court to act as an advocate for a person who has been found to be incompetent. Responsibilities can include overseeing the individual’s welfare, making personal decisions on their behalf, and managing their assets. The work can be completed around your schedule and mileage is reimbursed at the federal rate for qualifying trips. The volunteer can be a guardian of person, or estate, or both. The volunteer will be matched with a ward that meets the desired type of guardianship. Once you are matched with an individual in need, you can start making a tangible impact in their life.

Keep families connected! A volunteer family interaction supervisor monitors visits between children in alternate care and their parent(s) or other family members. The volunteer’s role is to supervise the visit, making sure it is safe and productive. The supervisor takes notes and shares them with the case worker and coordinator. Monthly time and mileage logs are required. Visits are held at a site determined by the social worker and family which may be at the department, in the community, or in a home. Visits can take place during the day, evenings, or weekends. Transportation of the child to and from the visit is part of the case. The volunteer’s schedule is flexible and determined by the hours they want to work and the assignments they accept from the volunteer coordinator. Once a case is accepted, the schedule is consistent. Mileage is reimbursed at the federal rate. Cases are screened to be apporpriat4 for a volunteer. Help strengthen our community's ability to assist families in crisis and create a ripple effect of positive change.
