you are looking for a rewarding volunteering opportunity, Pacific Point Hospice is seeking thoughtful, compassionate, and talented individuals to spend quality time with our hospice patients and provide support to their families. Weekly commitments will vary but we ask that you serve as a volunteer for a minimum of one year. Volunteers receive comprehensive training to understand the circumstances of a hospice patient and are equipped with practical and emotional tools to feel confident in providing support and companionship to patients and their loved ones. We are seeking hospice volunteers all over San Diego County for a variety of opportunities! -Patient Companion -Pet Therapy -Complementary Therapies -Veteran Support -Administrative Support and Community Outreach As a Pet Therapy Volunteer, you will join a team of highly engaged volunteers and clinical professionals focused on holistically supporting patients and their families. Therapy animals are an incredibly powerful and simple way to help our hospice patients and their families during a difficult time. A fury friend can provide some much-needed relief and joy to patients and their families. Pacific Point Hospice is looking for certified pet therapy animals to join our volunteer team! Pacific Point Hospice is seeking kind and caring individuals to share their time and talents with our hospice patients and their families. Our volunteers visit patients in their homes all over San Diego County! Visits can vary from playing card games, chatting and storytelling, reading aloud, celebrating a patient's birthday, or assisting family members with watering plants, walking the dog, or running errands. Because of the direct patient and family interaction, volunteers go through specialized patient care training . This process teaches you about hospice, terminal illness, and grief specific communication skills which equips volunteers with practical and emotional tools to feel confident i n providi ng support and companionship to patients and their loved on es . Administrative volunteers provide critical support with the day-to-day workings of Pacific Point Hospice at our office in San Diego. Assists in various office activities which may include, but are not limited to: Copying and scanning Filing Mailings Making phone calls Assembling admission binders Data processing and management Special projects Maintains open communication, reporting regularly to the volunteer coordinator Documents volunteer time and activity in an accurate and timely manner. Always maintains confidentiality Adheres to Pacific Point policies and procedures Completes the mandatory annual education. Meets all health requirements set by Pacific Point Participates in volunteer support and educational in-services. Skills & Requirements Day(s) Needed: Weekdays Time(s) Needed: Minimum 1-2-hour time blocks, flexible depending on your schedule. Office Hours 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Location: 6170 Cornerstone Ct E Ste 200, San Diego, CA 92121 Must be at least 18 years of age Must have work authorization in the US Successful completion of volunteer training program Clearance from appropriate health screenings and background check Agree to mandatory policy statements Minimum commitment of 1-2 hours of service per month Supportive of hospice concept Comfortable working with patients and families with different cultural and religious values Excellent communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (preferred) Previous volunteer experience (preferred) Independent means of transportation
