BOARD MEMBER JOB POST Volunteer: Board Member for Animal Rescue Non-Profit Grace Animal Rehabilitation Center (GARC) is a non-profit animal rehab center in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. We are dedicated to rescuing abandoned and abused cats and dogs, and placing them in loving forever homes. We also provide rehabilitation services for injured cats and dogs. Our goal is to reduce the number of animals euthanized and provide a second chance for needy pets. GARC was founded in 2017 by Cindy Yee King, who understands abused animals because she herself was abused as a child. We are a small but dedicated team that is passionate about helping animals. We believe that while saving one dog will not change the world, that one dog’s world will be changed forever! We rely on donations to fund our work and are always looking for volunteers to help us care for our animals. If you are passionate about helping animals, please consider joining us as a Board Member. Principal Responsibilities: Assist in developing policies and procedures to support our mission of protecting the animals in our care, including the prevention of theft, loss and confusion, by using common practices. Act as a community ambassador to share our important mission with the public. Assist in caring for our animals, to include transporting them to veterinary appointments, participating in adoption events and assisting with their day-to-day care. ( If closed by) Participate in fundraising, marketing, PR, legal, and accounting duties. Help ensure that GARC fulfills our mission. Forecast problems before they occur, evaluate how well things are working, and help find new and better solutions. Support GARC in meeting goals and keeping promises to the public, donors, and beneficiaries. Volunteer at our fundraising events in some capacity on the event committee. This may include finding event venues, coordinating and promoting events, and recruiting, training and following up with volunteers, or volunteer at the event hiring and evaluating performance of Executive Director Leverage your network to bring in new donors and resources to help further GARC. Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings. Give a meaningful personal financial donation. Engage in learning opportunities to better understand to serve as board of directors and the community we serves Must meet at least 3-4 of the following Qualifications: Passion for helping animals and making a difference in the lives of abandoned and abused pets (pre-requisite) Excellent communication skills (customer service experience preferred) Comfortable interacting with members of the public (PR experience preferred ) Understanding of animal care & training (veterinarian, vet tech and animals training skills preferred) Strong copywriting/editing, and grant writing skills Creative thinker with ideas for fundraising, marketing and strategic initiatives (marketing skills preferred) Collaborative person, willing to take on a variety of tasks, from animal care to planning events to creating PR materials Able to provide a reasonable monetary donation (pre-requisite) Background in accounting or law Graphic design skills Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/month or more Attending bi-annual or as-needed board meetings How To Apply: Interested candidates are invited to visit our website at Garcok.org to learn more about our mission, animals, and plans for the future.
