Mission Statement
Caring Coalition is a grassroots effort, providing access to good nutrition for Phoenix families who are struggling to feed their children.
Description
Caring Coalition AZ started in January of 2014 as a backpack food program, providing weekend care packages for downtown Phoenix children in need. In response to the onset of the COVID 19 Pandemic, our mission pivoted to providing food boxes to whole families. One in four downtown Phoenix children experience food insecurity. We work with local schools to identify children and families in need and provide them with two boxes of non perishable food weekly or bi monthly as needed.
Caring Coalition AZ started in November of 2013 with neighbors pitching in to help a local family with food for their Thanksgiving meal. Since then we have become a non-profit, recognized by the IRS and a Qualifying Charitable Organization for the Arizona Tax Credit.
Caring Coalition. We are presently serving 90 Preschool-12th grade students each week. As of 2019 more that 10,000 weekend care packages have been provided!
We have opportunities for volunteers who would like to deliver food to families, pack food boxes and help with stocking shelves. In addition we have packing events monthly.
