Veteran to Veteran Volunteers

Heart to Heart Hospice is seeking Veterans to Volunteer. Our hospice patients who are Veterans deserve the uniquely compassionate support that only another Veteran can provide to them at the end of life's journey. We want to provide them with that support. Veteran Volunteers can also help with pinning our Veterans at ceremonies or upon admission or they may want to participate in our Honor Escort which we offer to each Veteran patient. If you are interested, you can volunteer just a few hours each month or more if you desire. We will provide the volunteer with hospice training to assist you in feeling more knowledgeable about hospice services and cover the cost of any of our requirements. If you are interested, I would be happy to explain our Veteran Services further.

Hospice In-Patient Center Volunteers

We are in need of volunteers in our secured In-Patient Center who could do things such as: pass water and snacks, let the families in the door, heat up meals, make beds, tidy the kitchen, check on families, visit with patients,... Hospice Companion Volunteers

Looking for people to volunteer who are 18 yrs or older. The volunteer candidate needs to be reliable and trustworthy with a compassionate heart. These people would visit with our patients as a companion providing no personal care. Hospice volunteers may read to the patient, play cards, allow them to talk about their lives and feelings, etc. If the patient resides in a home setting, a volunteer may be asked to assist with light housework or provide the opportunity for the caregiver to run to the grocery or go to an appointment. Our Volunteer Coordinator works very hard to match volunteers with patients, environments and assignments that they are comfortable with. A criminal background check, TB skin tests and training are required and provided for free by Heart to Heart Hospice. Please consider this wonderful opportunity to give back to others during the end of their journey

Bereavement Volunteers

Our Bereavement Volunteer opportunity is unique in that it can be done from home or from the Heart to Heart office. The bereavement program is for Heart to Heart families after a patient passes, as well as, anyone who is grieving in their immediate circle. As a bereavement volunteer , you will work along side one of our Bereavement Coordinators with follow up phone calls and documentation. Phone calls will be made to families in the grieving process and is usually just a call to let family members know that they have support. This is a great opportunity for those who have experience with the grief process or who are looking to gain more knowledge in helping others with grief healing. This would also be great for a person who is wanting to keep up to date on their counseling experience
