Mission Statement
The mission of the Brooklyn Book Festival is to celebrate published literature and nurture a literary cultural community through programming that cultivates and connects readers of diverse ages and backgrounds with local, national and international authors, publishers and booksellers. To this end, BKBF develops original programming that is hip, smart, diverse and inclusive and collaborates and presents free and low cost public events including the Brooklyn Book Festival, BFBK Children's Day and Bookends.

The Brooklyn Book Festival is one of America's premier book festivals and the largest free literary event in New York City. Presenting an array of national and international literary stars and emerging authors, The Festival includes a week of Bookend Events throughout New York City, a lively Children's Day and a celebratory Festival Day with more than 300 authors plus 250 booksellers filling a vibrant outdoor Literary Marketplace. This hip, smart, diverse gathering attracts thousands of book lovers of all ages.
