We would love to have you volunteer with us to drive seniors to their doctor appointments or to run errands. We hope that you'll chat with them and form a connection.. Its like taking your grandma or grandpa out to where they need to go. Drivers make it possible for seniors to live independently when they no longer are in a position to drive themselves to places such as to medical and dental appointments, grocery shopping, church, banks, nail and hair salons, social activities . Members request rides several days in advance via phone calls to Village Office, stating starting time, location, and ending time. They may request one-way or round trip rides. Volunteers check the online database and sign up to provide either a one-way or a round-trip ride, as their schedule permits. Members may use a cane or walker to assist them getting to and from the driver's car. Driver must be able and willing to collapse walkers and place them temporarily in their car. Only drivers with Village training may assist members in wheelchairs. It's very rewarding and fun!

Would you like to make a difference in the lives of older people in our community ? Help them to age gracefully and joyfully while living on their own ? You have come to the right place. Villages of San Mateo County is a volunteer run-non profit organization that helps older members age gracefully by connecting them socially, and providing services that enable them to stay in their own homes as long as possible. We organize events where our members connect, we also have our volunteers make friendly visits or phone calls to seniors. We also provide services like rides to appointments, basic handyman services, help with grocery shopping, errands, pet care, gardening etc. We provide the help that a neighbor or friend would provide. To run a village -- it takes a village. We have several leadership and co-ordination opportunities too! We are very flexible with volunteer hours, and what you do for us can change from week to week if you like or stay the same.
