Mission Statement

To connect seekers of knowledge services with volunteers eager to make a difference.

Description

Tutoria connects people in need with volunteer tutors via our online platform. Volunteers and clients sign up at https:// tutoria.io. They select their interests (English tutoring, US Citizenship, or legal aid) and availability. They then connect with one another via direct message.

Why Tutoria? There is a strong demand from immigrants for education and legal services around the world. There is also a large supply of volunteers offering to teach such classes. The bottleneck is that connecting immigrants and volunteers is done manually by non-profit staff, who do not have the capacity to provide matching/scheduling services. As a volunteer, you will not only create a social impact by helping us meet this need; you will benefit personally by working closely with a passionate group of volunteer professionals, including Tutoria’s leadership.

The onboarding process was seamless, thanks to the consistent communication with the HR team. The interviewer provided valuable insights into the responsibilities of the role, which helped me feel well-prepared to begin my volunteering journey. I’m excited to start contributing as a volunteer for Tutoria!

So far I had the opportunity to speak with the Marketing Manager and it has been a great experience so far. I'm excited to be part of Tutoria.

I've only experienced the onboarding process, which was pretty smooth. The background check took about an hour to resolve. Followup emails have been clear about next actions.

This is a reply from Tutoria to the previous post. Cecilia, we are sorry to hear your frustration with our onboarding process. As mentioned in the Volunteer Agreement you signed, all candidates must pass a background check before being onboarded. The background check request was sent to you November 9th and subsequently, in response to your follow-up email. We should have followed up with you in the interim to clear up any confusion, and commit to doing better in the future. When applying for a remote role with an unfamiliar company, due diligence is key. Feel free to check our social media to hear from, and speak directly to, past clients and volunteers like you. You can also check our filings with the IRS and the New York State Attorney General's Office. Thanks for your feedback and hope you find the role you're looking for.

Poor Communication. Ghosting. Giving the run-a-round. After a call with the Recruiter and a virtual interview (The Recruiter's camera was off and never addressed it), I received a position with Tutoria on 11/08/2023. I signed a DocuSign agreement and was told someone would contact me in a few days. No one contacted me after multiple follow-ups. Multiple recruiters ghosted me. I said I would leave a review, and then they passed the buck to another HR rep. who asked me about receiving a link to a background check, which they could have easily included in the email. It's a stalling strategy for a company I don't believe exists. It's 2024, and I'm still seeking volunteer experience to uplevel my resume. Instead of giving me clarification, they wasted critical time before graduation.

I had a misunderstanding but it was resolved professionally and in a timely manner. That people are respectful and do their job accordingly!

I believe that working for a good cause or volunteering always make you grow professionally and mentally. You are not volunteering but you are earning new ideas, confidence and hope.
