Peconic Bay Medical Center's family Caregivers Center is the first of it's kind on Long Island. This specialized program is dedicated to the support and well-being of family caregivers who provide care for a loved one confronted with an illness. Every family caregiver's journey is unique and requires individual and personalized support. Family caregiving can be an isolating and stressful experience. The goal of this program is to give family caregivers the opportunity to be connected and supported by volunteers who have also the had experience of being a family caregiver. The family Caregivers Center is a place for support, information and resources for all family caregivers. The program offers help from social workers and specially trained volunteer Caregiver Coaches. The hospital-based program is available to family caregivers Monday thru Friday. Family caregivers are offered additional support through weekly outreach calls from volunteer Caregiver Coaches. In this specialized volunteer role, you will be working side by side with an expert clinical team to help ensure that comfort and communication needs are met in our fast-paced Emergency Department. Here is what you will be doing in this role: Provided comfort by offering pillows & blankets, beverages/meals under the direction of the clinical team, TLC Interface directly with the clinical team to help keep patients & families informed Help manage expectations for our patients & families Ensure that call bells are answered quickly Complete various tasks that support our Emergency Department Team and much more! Spiritual Services Volunteers assist the Chaplain with ensuring that our patients and caregivers have access to available spiritual resources during their hospital stay. As ambassadors of the Spiritual Services department, our Volunteers visit with newly admitted patients, provide requested spiritual and/or religious items, and refer patients and caregivers to the hospital Chaplain. Spiritual Services Volunteers are exceptional listeners, respectful of diverse spiritual expressions, and comfortable in a healthcare environment. Our Spiritual Services Volunteers must be willing to visit with patients and caregivers of all (or no) specific faith traditions.

As a Gift Shop Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and support to patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Your warm and friendly presence in the gift shop with contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment for all who enter. Through your efforts, you will help raise funds for the hospital's initiatives while assisting individuals in finding thoughtful gifts, comfort items and personal essentials. In this active volunteer opportunity, you will get your steps in helping to accompany and guide patients, family and visitors where they need to go within the hospital. The Front Lobby Navigators at Peconic Bay Medical Center help ensure that our lobby is run by the kindest, friendliest, and most helpful people possible. The Admitting Navigators at PBMC help guide our patients and their families as they come for surgery, inpatient/outpatient procedures, etc. As a volunteer, you will greet and help navigate patients and families, ensuring that our visitors feel welcome and satisfied that they chose Peconic Bay Medical Center.
