Description

Buddy Ball at Grove City’s Mirolo Dream Field - Buddy Volunteers needed for Saturday All Ages league and Tuesday Adult League. Games start in May and run through June.

A place where children and adults with unique needs can see their dream of playing baseball become a reality!

What is Buddy Ball all about?

  • Baseball with modifications to the equipment, rules, and field.
  • Games are played on a tiled rubberized surface that will accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  • With the help of a "Buddy", players will get to experience hitting, throwing, and moving around the bases.
  • All participants will be playing in an organized sport!

Where does Buddy Ball take place?

    • Grove City’s Mirolo Dream Field at Windsor Park (3400 Ventura Blvd, Grove City, Ohio 43123)

How is this program unique?

  • Players will have a buddy for each game.
  • Buddies are peers and community volunteers that help the players access the whole baseball experience.
  • The "buddy" may help them hit, throw and move around the bases.
  • In some cases the buddy will have to push the player in a wheelchair, help a player using a walker or just offer general assistance.
  • The buddies gain 'real life’ skills on how to befriend and interact with their peers with special needs.
  • Friendships are made during Buddy Ball!
