In alignment with SOUNDS Academy’s mission, the SOUNDS Academy Site Assistant will assist program leaders and faculty with administrative and musical tasks at Osborn Middle School (1102 W Highland Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85013). The successful candidate will possess an unyielding commitment to empowering youth to realize their possibilities through music. These positions report to the relevant Program Manager or Administrative Assistant. The Site Assistant position is ideal for anyone who studied music, as well as current students, or those who simply hold a strong passion for music coupled with a willingness to learn. The Site Assistant role also offers a unique opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in social media marketing, operations management, and fundraising. This position is specifically designed to empower individuals to build impressive resumes while expanding their knowledge base. Site Assistants will be able to showcase their involvement in impactful projects and their ability to work in a team. About SOUNDS Academy SOUNDS Academy is a non-profit music education organization that teaches, mentors, and provides musical experiences and opportunities for underserved youth. Students receive individual lessons, group classes, and perform on string, brass and woodwind instruments, guitar, and piano. Instruments are provided to those who cannot afford one. In SOUNDS Academy, students learn the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork through music education. We teach these values in our Musical Access Program, which connects students to live music and instruments through our Instrument Petting Zoos, our School Programs for lower income schools and community centers, and our SOLO Program, which provides one-on-one instruction. The vision of SOUNDS Academy is to provide music education opportunities to a wide variety of children while removing any barriers that children may have in receiving quality music education. Responsibilities/Opportunities: Learn, understand, and represent the SOUNDS Academy character values for uplifting youths, families, and communities through the pursuit of musical excellence Complete administrative tasks such as attendance, inventory, photocopies, class/rehearsal set up and take down, capturing social media content, preparing flyers/announcements, and communication with parents/guardians Perform instrument care duties such as cleaning and organizing instruments, intaking donations, and fulfilling supply order requests Vacuum, surface clean, and pick up trash from lesson rooms Actively participate in social media campaigns, contribute creative ideas, craft engaging content, and analyze metrics to optimize reach and engagement Support fundraising initiatives by assisting in research, planning, data input, and campaign execution Assist program leaders and faculty with projects as needed Form effective work relationships with other SOUNDS Academy Site Assistants Attend peer exchange/training workshops throughout the year Other administrative tasks as assigned Ideal candidate will: Someone with a music background or a passion for music Possess some proficiency on one of the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, voice Be extremely reliable Be always punctual Possess a passion for music as a tool for positive social change Possess the ability to inspire, work with, and mentor youths ages 5 and up Possess excellent proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a team Possess ability to adapt, be flexible, and have a sense of humor Notes: This position requires a car. Background check required. Lessons take place weekday afternoons/evenings, and Saturdays. Interviews will take place at Osborn Middle School (1102 W Highland Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85013).
