The Pop-up Distribution is an innovative collaboration between the Greater Chicago Food Depository and health organizations throughout Cook County. Patients, who attend the Pop-up Distribution, are referred by their physicians based upon the results of a food insecurity screening. Volunteer jobs at the Pop-up Distribution include staffing the check-in and health/nutrition table, being a personal shopper and restocker. Because of volunteer support, thousands of patients and their families have access to fresh produce. These opportunities are available and vary by locations. The Greater Chicago Food Depository is the food bank for Cook County, with 750 partner agencies that include places like food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters that help provide food for food insecure individuals. The Food Depository regularly needs volunteers to help in a variety of ways. Some of these ways include volunteering for a repack shift or a FRESH truck shift.
