Organization: Lids of Encouragement Location: San Diego, California Position Type: Volunteer/Part-Time (with the potential for a stipend) About Us: Lids of Encouragement is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Diego, CA. Our mission is to uniquely encourage those in need and end street homelessness for our most vulnerable population. We have been actively serving the community since 2017, creating care packages, hygiene kits, and meals for those in need. We believe in the power of community and are committed to making a meaningful impact. Position Overview: We are seeking a Board of Director: Treasurer who is financially savvy and passionate about our mission to join our leadership team. This vital role will involve managing our financial resources, ensuring transparency, and supporting the sustainable growth of our organization. The ideal candidate will have strong financial expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to navigate the complexities of nonprofit finance. Key Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage all financial aspects of Lids of Encouragement, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting. - Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. - Provide financial statements and reports to the board of directors and key stakeholders. - Manage bank accounts and have signing authority for all organizational accounts. - Personally back leases and other financial obligations related to the organization. - Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and accountability. - Collaborate with fellow board members to create fundraising strategies and support financial decision-making. - Assist in securing grants and funding opportunities to support the organization’s mission. Qualifications: - Proven experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, preferably within the nonprofit sector. - Strong understanding of financial management principles, budgeting, and accounting practices. - Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly. - High level of integrity and a commitment to transparency and accountability. - Willingness to personally back financial commitments, including leases and contracts. - Passion for community service and a desire to make a meaningful impact in addressing homelessness.
