Coach - a rewarding volunteer opportunity

Girls on the Run coaches are trained volunteers who lead a team of participants through a season of powerful and fun lessons. You do not need to be a runner; you simply need to have a desire to support and encourage the next generation. Coaches receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give. Do I need to be a runner or athlete to be a coach? No! Girls on the Run provides the training, curriculum and supplies needed to safely lead a team for a season! You simply need to be a motivating role model for your team. Many of our coaches participate in their first 5K alongside their team! Get to know and understand your co-coaches to better serve your team. Have fun while serving as a role model for program participants. Review, prepare and supervise weekly lessons (curriculum provided by Girls on the Run). Collaborate with other coaches for successful lesson delivery. Commit for the entire season (practices and end-of-season 5K event). Facilitate communication with parents/guardians of program participants.

Not a problem! 5K Planning Committee The Girls on the Run 5K Planning Committee brings excitement and energy to organizing an amazing race day, from creative planning to rallying volunteers. Their mission is to craft a fun, memorable event that unites the community in a lively, supportive atmosphere for our GOTR participants and families. Group Opportunities Are you part of a group or organization that wants to make an impact on our community? Girls on the Run would love to have you get involved with our program. Here are few ways you can make a difference while working together. Volunteer together at a Girl on the Run 5K event - from cheer teams to water stations to handing out medals at the finish line and more - there are numerous ways for you to help bring this joyful end of season celebration to life! Support with one-day volunteer opportunities: Coach Bag Packing, Create Star Power Girl Encouragement Kits, 5k Team Bag Packing Adopt a team and financially support them for a season through purchasing snacks, shoes, or running clothing. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Description

Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities, & running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. Our program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a community service project and being physically & emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.
