Academic Volunteers Needed for Middle & High School Students Location: Denver, CO Organization: Mile High 360 Position Overview: We are seeking passionate academic volunteers to help middle and high school students excel in their studies. Volunteers will assist with homework, tutoring, and service learning activities. This is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a young person’s education and future! Responsibilities: Roles and Responsibilities: Academic Support: Offering support in 1:1 setting Tutor middle and/or high school students in academic subjects: reading, math, science, and/or social studies. Tutor students in college-level math, science, or writing Review and support students with their homework. Share a special skill or occupation to enrich student learning Helping students refocus and stay on task while completing assignments Assist students with service learning activities Requirements: Must pass background check Brief introductory call to help us get to know you better and explore your interests in our program. Attend Orientation Additional Information: We will be reaching out to volunteers on an ongoing basis depending on student needs, but will dedicate the last two weeks of each month to longer study sessions. During these sessions, students will focus on catching up and preparing for upcoming assignments. We would greatly appreciate it if volunteers could assist students with projects, homework, or any additional academic needs during these times. Volunteers are not here as authoritative figures or to manage behavior; rather, they are here to connect with students and help build a sense of community. Volunteer Hours: 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM All expertise are welcomed!

About Mile High 360: Mile High 360 is seeking volunteers to assist our Health and Wellness Coordinators on bike rides and other health & wellness activities with our middle and/or high school students. We work with students in middle school, high school, and postsecondary settings, both during and outside of school hours. Roles and Responsibilities: Student Facing Participate in a variety of group activities like biking, playing games, cooking classes, and more. Biking Days Join staff & students in supporting bike rides in groups of 5-20 around the Denver Metro area. Support with basic bike maintenance and safety checks. Support the safety of the group during all health and wellness activities. Participate in other activities, sports & games with students. Encourage students to find movements they enjoy. Bike Maintenance Ability to work independently and problem-solve Support our bike fleet’s variety of needs (ex: fix flats, rewire brake cables, adjust derailleur, etc) All tools provided by MH360 Anytime between M-TH 11 AM - 6:30 PM. Requirements: Must pass background check Brief introductory call to help us get to know you better and explore your interests in our program. Attend Training & Orientation Qualifications: Ability to commit to a full day of programming on your first day. Monday - Thursday - 4:30-6:30 PM Ability to bike 1-8 miles without breaks Availability to volunteer 1 day weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly Monday - Thursday between 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Spanish-speaking skills (not required) but welcomed. Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity for all students. Must pass a background check. We support students in four aspects that leads to positive change and self-empowerment:
Academic Achievement: We support learning beyond the classroom through homework help, one-on-one tutoring, focused enrichment in literacy and math, and project based learning. Life Skills: We nurture personal growth and resilience through our mentorship program and socioemotional lessons. Students are able to make positive life choices as they work in a group setting or with a volunteer mentor setting goals and discussing life decisions. Sports and health skills: Students engage and learn a sport in our program, either squash or cycling. Under the direction of their athletic coach, students learn important life skills to master the sport. Post-Secondary and Career Readiness-Students discover pathways to academic, professional and personal success through special events and programs such as financial literacy, college visits, and scholarship success.
